Other Cooperatives
One of the questions we've heard is, "Is this just someone mad at HILCO?"
We've learned from history that "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." We've seen it in congress -- when someone gets too much power and too much access to other's money, temptation runs amuck. How many of our elected representatives have gone to jail in just the last few years?
Unfortunately, HILCO is not the only cooperative having this problem. Click here to read about similar problems at Pedernales Electric Cooperative, where the Texas Attorney General's office is apparently involved.
Help HILCO avoid the problems of corruption experienced in other co-ops and for-profit businesses by voicing your opinions and holding our directors accountable for inappropriate spending actions.
According to statesman.com:
In November, 2007, Pedernales Electric Cooperative Board President W. W. "Bud" Burnett gave his deposition as a result of a lawsuit filed by members of their coop. In that deposition, the board president stated:
Rescue HILCO -- Take our Co-op Back!
