HILCO Directors -- Masters of Deception
It was election time. They gerrymandered the districts as much as they cculd; then they showed us more of their deception -- and we're paying for it in electric rates:
A color brochure called "MAKING THE GRADE" was included in your bill. HILCO rated an "84." That's a low "B." Yet, they printed a color insert to brag about it, calling themselves the "Cream of the Crop."
Who would brag about a low "B"? (If your kids bring home a low "B," do you call them the "Cream of the Crop?")
Let's bring HILCO back to an "A+"
There's more! Look at the graph. Notice how Hilco's "84" is over twice as high as the industry's "72." It appears the intent is to give you the impression that HILCO is way ahead of the others; math tells us that "84" is only about 17% higher than "72."
Deception?
The graph below is similar to what they mailed (except we're showing the scale) -- it makes HILCO look MUCH better than the Industry, with no room whatsoever for improvement. The did it by showing only the tops of the graph, cutting off the area above HILCO's "84," and by "conveniently" leaving the scale off the left side -- the "66" to "84" range. This led to the deception that you were seeing a 0 - 100 scale, when you were not.
Here's what it should have looked like -- a true 0 to 100 scale. Note the considerable room for improvement, and HILCO's edge over Touchstone or the Industry doesn't look that big, anymore.
Did they lie? No. Did they present it in a way to mislead and deceive the you, the members? You decide. Are you tired of their shady tactics? If you are:
